Berlusconi stories III

After Berlusconis advice to the young girl (link), his opponent Walter Veltroni said “that there is a lot of things that you can joke about, but the problems in Italys economy is not one of them“. Berlusconi replied, that Veltroni was missing a sence of humor.

Massimo D'Alema said also joined the choir of protests: "Berlusconi no longer understands the current generation because he is past it." – Massimo is the current foreign minister. To this Berlusconi replied, with reassuring the public that even if he is 71 he still doesn’t need Viagra.

Berlusconi stories II

Berlusconi on his leadership:

"I am the Jesus Christ of politics. I am a patient victim, I put up with everyone, I sacrifice myself for everyone."(link)

Berlusconi on his government:

"We have worked a lot. Only Napoleon did more than me--but I am certainly taller than him." (link)

Berlusconi on why to invest in Italy.

"Italy is now a great country to invest in ... Today we have fewer communists, and those who are still here deny having been one. Another reason to invest in Italy is that we have beautiful secretaries ... superb girls." (link)

Tomorrow is my name day

A colleague came and told me, that it is my name day Tomorrow. He was quite disappointed that I didn't know, because down here name day or "onomastico" is regarded as a bit of a birthday, which means cake day for the colleagues.
I looked at bit around and found that Kim, was in fact the name day in Norway (link). But here in Italy its a celebration of the saint with the corresponding name, more than the person who wears the name. So since Norway and Sweden are not catholic countries and therefore don't believe in saints, I wonder why they celebrate it.

I did some more searching and found that in Denmark "Kim" is a common name (that I knew already ;-)) but that it had a big renaissance after World War II because of the resistance man called Kim Malthe-Bruun.(link).

I asked my dad, if that was why I was called Kim (not that I am that old), but he answered "jeg kan ikke huske hvorfor du skulle hedde kim, men se praktisk på det, det er kort og alle kan nogenlunde sige det internationalt"
which means "I don't remember, but it's practical"

Berlusconi stories I

In Italy almost every new employment is done with short time contracts. One might think it is fine, since nowadays nobody stay in the same job for long. The problem with these contracts are however that the rest of the system hasn't adjusted to it. Meaning that people with such contracts a not able make a mortgage on a house or apartment, buy a refrigerator on a installment payment.

These short-term contract types is made to help the companies hire people, without giving them indeterminate time contracts, which makes them virtually impossible to fire again. Which in my eyes are okay, but not without a system that enables people to have real lifes ( i.e. buy house ect)

So to arrive at the first Berlusconi story, we watch a debate program where a young girl, at 24, asks Berlusconi what he is going to do for all the "precari" (which are those people who has short term contracts) should do to be able to start a family or buy a house with a contract like that.

And he answered "You should perhaps look to marry a millionaire, like my son, or someone who doesn't have such problems,"(link)

Horror movies on Microsoft Messenger

As a Dane I am use to protecting children against commercials, commercials for cigarettes and alcohol is illegal to put in television in Denmark, porn magazines not in the height where children can reach them, and so on.

Here in Italy, I see commercials for alcohol in TV, no cigarettes, but if thats a law or just because the industri is so unpopular that they given up, I dont know.

After I finished being a teenager, I kinda stopped watching horror movies, for several reasons, I convince myself that they have become too bloody and disgusting for my taste, but its probably just me who has grown up a bit.

But what ever kind of preferences I have, I am pretty tired of looking at a bloody head on a scale every time I need to send a message to a colleague or a friend...

as part of some commercials to by some new movie horror movie...

I understand that Gates wants to stay among the riches people in the world, but is it really necessary to put stuff like that there.

Anyone know an alternative messenger, without these commercials.

A better informed friend told me the following:
- commercials for cigarettes is a law in EU not just Denmark ( so maybe thats why I haven't seen any here neither.
- The porn out of reach of children is not a law, just good good ethics and not a law.
- And that pidgin.sf.net is a nice instant messenger application. without horror movie commercials.

I wanted to put a picture of him here, but sadly I always take terrible pictures of him.
