Guinness healthy ?!?

I'm not sure how many times I have tried to convince people that Guinness is healthy, but the respond is normally skeptical. Maybe its because I am usually influenced by alcohol when I try to convince people about this well known fact.

But now I actually have proof, or rather some people at Wisconsin University, have found proof that Guinness is in fact health.

So from now on I have to go to Irish pubs to drink the healthy Guinness.

342nd day of the year (343rd in leap years)

342nd day of the year (343rd in leap years), also known as the 8th December, has been an eventful day throughout the years, it is the birthday of Kim Basinger, the day the opera season starts in Milan, and more importantly for my story, it is the day of the conception of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

This is also the day where Italy joins the craze, which I have been use to in Denmark. Suddenly a grand Christmas three have appeared in the entrance to our palazzo. All shops are casinos of blinking lights and inflatable Santas. And we have been in Ikea to buy Christmas lights, to put on our olive tree. We have found all the home made stars and put them on one of those small Christmas trees which you can buy in Ikea. And now that Sara has come back from Sardegna with lights and figures to make the presepe, we have all the Christmas one could wish (and some good cheeses). The figures are made in china, which is probably why Josef looks a little bit like he is from Tyrol, and the cow has a single hump. But other than that they are great

Now the stress of the Christmas presents can begin, I also found a couple of Christmas beers and some glogg, which I'm planning to use to drug myself and my Italian family this Saturday, when we are going to the mountains.

Christmas here we come. Almost, I think I will go outside to sit a bit in the sun and read in my book.

Maybe somebody was listening

Somebody must have been listening, because this morning, when I went to work I meet not only one Santa clause, but an orchestra of Santa clauses.

Very strange indeed. Actually it seems like a lot of people have been listening, because suddenly I see lots of inflatable Santas all around, in front of shops (okay two or three so far... but there is definitely a pattern)

So now its really starting to become Christmas, with inflatable Santas and everything. Maybe if it would also become too cold, for me to sit outside in the sun, and read my paper during my lunch break, it would really be Christmas... but I guess thats not going to happen...

Merry Christmas again...

Where is the italian christmass production

As most male Danes, I have a somewhat strained relationship with Christmas, It starts already in the end of October, even in September, people start talking about Christmas wishes. And then the center of the city transforms into one big lightning ball of sining elf's and Christmas lights.

On the good side, there is also all the good beer and food, which is to be eaten, but basically it seems like the pleasant and cosy family tradition has become a race of bigger and bigger Christmas presents. And building up expectations which becomes so great that they can never be fulfilled. Because the boyfriend does not have a secret uncle that can afford those Gucci g-string with diamond motive of an elf. The dad cannot afford the Lego special edition almost life size millium falcon (wich by the way is pretty cool), and what ever else people expects that their loved ones should produce under the tree this year. So all in all I have wished for many years that Christmass didn't start so early, so I weren't sick of it, when Christmas eve arrived.

Now I'm here in Italy, where on the other hand, nobody seems to have noticed that we are in the month of Christmas, almost no shops have Christmas decoration and all commercials are not about Christmas. Nobody is having competitions of who can put up the most horrible Christmas lights in garden, on house ect.

No in fact the only sign I have seen so far that it is Christmas, is that the bikini model on the TIM (Telecom Italia mobile) have put on a Christmas hat (nissehue).

Now I miss it a bit. So be careful what you wish for, cause you might get it.

Merry Christmas.

ps: the g-string with a diamond elf motive is something I made up.
